Publication Ethics

Abditani: Journal of Community Service is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. This statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and outlines the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Originality and Authorship
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original, have not been previously published, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  2. Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite all sources that have influenced their research.

  3. Plagiarism
All manuscripts are subject to plagiarism checks. Submissions containing significant similarity or plagiarism will be rejected.

  4. Authorship Criteria
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

  5. Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could inappropriately influence their research or interpretations.

  6. Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate to correct or retract the paper.

Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Publication Decisions
The editor is responsible for deciding which articles should be published based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  2. Fair Play
Manuscripts shall be evaluated solely on their academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, or institutional affiliation.

  3. Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

  4. Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the author’s explicit written consent.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and may help authors improve their manuscripts.

  2. Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

  3. Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, and reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  4. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other publications.

  5. Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions connected to the paper.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

  1. Integrity and Academic Standards
The publisher is committed to ensuring that all stages of the publishing process are conducted in accordance with ethical and academic standards.

  2. Editorial Independence
The publisher respects the independence of editors and authors and will not exert any influence for commercial or political reasons.

  3. Corrections and Retractions
The publisher will work with editors and authors to correct or retract any article found to contain errors or ethical violations.
